Here There Be Monsters

        (Only Cowards)

 

Hulking louts breeding unrest,

Sowing chaos at overlord’s behest.

Armored, armed rabid beasts,

Upon the populace unleashed.

 

Marching mindless manic brain cases.

Combat booted zombie disgraces.

They make our streets unsafe places,

These monsters have no faces.

 

They havoc with covered faces,

Of themselves they wish no traces.

Making our streets unsafe places:

Only cowards won’t show their faces.

 

Bred to protect over-rich ghouls,

Violent cosplay makes racists drool.

Copycatting Adolph’s worst art,

Frankensteined together from rotten parts.

 

Marching mindless manic brain cases.

Combat booted zombie disgraces.

They make our streets unsafe places,

These monsters won’t show their faces.

 

They havoc with covered faces,

Of themselves they wish no traces.

Making our streets unsafe places:

Only cowards won’t show their faces.

 

Bloodsuckers hidden in castles,

Where they stew up witchy brews.

Pour poison from corroded cauldron,

And dare to call it the news.

 

They are giants in their own minds,

They are ogres in their souls.

Elevating just their own kinds,

Who choose to do the work of trolls.

 

They havoc with covered faces,

Of themselves they wish no traces.

Making our streets unsafe places:

Only cowards won’t show their faces.

 

Worm away in darkness,

Inventing various frights.

Make you accept the harness,

Spirit away the rights.

 

They are giants in their own minds,

They are ogres in their souls.

Elevating just their own kinds,

Who choose to do the work of trolls.

 

They havoc with covered faces,

Of themselves they wish no traces.

Making our streets unsafe places:

Only cowards won’t show their faces.

 

But we see you.

  Hope in the Dark   It is not enough to speak of hope, Impalpable and distant often… Hope is initiated by action, Be it small, Be it unglamorous. Hope is transfused through devotion, Through adherence to a just cause, Through empathy and a kind smile. One must apply that hope: One must be that hope. Ruthless resolve is called for, And a dedication to decency. Hope may cut through bleak times, Hope may suffer through the gloom, Hope is the knowledge that the dark Always gives way to day, That the night is punctuated by the stars, And that the moon returns to her fullness always, And the patient one will see her again.
