October 26 - Lantern Jack Cuts a Rug

      October 26

Lantern Jack Cuts a Rug

Lantern Jack was frowning his pumpkin mug,

He felt all year he was much too snug.

Lantern Jack needed some way to unplug:

He and Hellcat at the Mash would cut a rug.

It was the Mash, it was the Monster Mash,

Old Jacko planned to make a splash.

But to the tailor they had to dash:

After all year they looked like trash.

The tailor’s shop was on Dreary Lane,

You can only reach it by Blaine the Train.

The truth is Blaine is a pain.

Going by Blaine may be insane.

Jackie and Hellcat climbed aboard,

Dreary Lane Blaine headed toward.

On the way Blaine got bored,

Pedal to the metal, Blaine was floored.

Blaine had a need: a need for speed.

Blaine had another need:

A once and final deed.

Neither Jack nor Hellcat had agreed.

Lantern Jack thought the speed a strain,

Hellcat looked on with disdain.

Soon they would pass Dreary Lane,

Jack told Blaine they would detrain.

Blaine the Train was a real pain,

That is the truth and the refrain.

If you board you might remain,

No Casey up front high on cocaine.

Jack knew there was no way to implore,

That Blaine drop them at the clothing store,

So scooping Hellcat up from the floor,

Lantern Jack at speed stepped out the door.

At 900 MPH Blaine had sped,

At 900 MPH Blaine was gone in the head.

But perhaps Blaine had never read:

You can’t kill what is already dead.

Lantern Jack and Hellcat tumbled down,

Somewhere near the ugly part of town,

Just where Dreary Lane wound around,

Where Terror Tailors could be found.

Lantern Jack dressed to the nines,

In tatters and tears so divine.

At the Mash they were certain to shine,

Wearing the best of lost centuries design.

Jack and Hellcat got to the bash,

It was the Mash: the Monster Mash.

Dressed they were in the finest of trash,

Lantern Jack and Hellcat were this year’s smash.
