Interesting Time

 

Keep them guessing,

Keep digressing,

Keep up the chaos,

Preventing digestion.

 

Perfect illusion,

Adept occlusion,

Keep up the carnage,

Accepted confusion.

 

Oh, to live in interesting times,

Oh, to see the interesting crimes.

The news is going nuts,

It’s still ten minutes until nine,

What a way to live,

In such interesting times.

 

Make alteration,

Remake deviation,

Keep up the camouflage,

Opaque negation.

 

All distraction,

All inaction,

Keep up the curtain,

Prepare redaction.

 

Oh, to live in interesting times,

Oh, to see the blame get reassigned.

The news is going nuts,

It’s still ten minutes until nine,

What a way to live,

In such interesting times.

 

Infantile,

Hire servile,

Keep up the coddling,

Toddler style.

 

Proclamation,

More conflation,

Keep up the collapse,

Our damnation.

 

Oh, to live in interesting times,

Oh, to see the horrific decline.

The news is going nuts,

It’s still ten minutes until nine,

What a way to live,

In such interesting times.

 

 Watch it all in disbelief,

Watch the commander in thief.

Wonder at the daily debrief,

Wonder when we get some relief.

  Hope in the Dark   It is not enough to speak of hope, Impalpable and distant often… Hope is initiated by action, Be it small, Be it unglamorous. Hope is transfused through devotion, Through adherence to a just cause, Through empathy and a kind smile. One must apply that hope: One must be that hope. Ruthless resolve is called for, And a dedication to decency. Hope may cut through bleak times, Hope may suffer through the gloom, Hope is the knowledge that the dark Always gives way to day, That the night is punctuated by the stars, And that the moon returns to her fullness always, And the patient one will see her again.
