Living Past

Living Past

The shaded past lurks because,

Telling tales of never was,

Slicing through me with silken claws,

The shaded past lurks because.

A past only partly lived,

Memory filtered through a faulted sieve.

Scars sheared by a shielding shiv,

Sins accomplished, who can forgive?

The shaded past lurks because,

Telling tales of never was,

Slicing through me with silken claws,

The shaded past lurks because.

Remembrance a muddled palette,

Fading faces, forgotten debt.

Still ascend from the depths yet,

Do we ever truly forget?

The shaded past lurks because,

Telling tales of never was,

Slicing through me with silken claws,

The shaded past lurks because.

Recollection clenching my jaw,

Uncertainty in what I saw.

Murky depths too like a maw,

How long will memory gnaw?

The shaded past lurks because,

Telling tales of never was,

Slicing through me with silken claws,

The shaded past lurks because.
