A Triumph in the Chambers
A Triumph
in the Chambers
In the Chambers of Repute they gathered,
To discuss which hair styles will be allowed,
And whether baldness is still a sin.
For there were some shaving
Their heads for their comfort,
And some shaving their heads for style.
The Minister of Heritage was adamant,
And argued on behalf,
Of the Barbers Association,
And asked how shining pates
Would affect the children.
He quoted a quote from the Holy Book
That had never been writ into the Law,
But was referenced by some people,
So that it could be misunderstood at need.
Then he sobbed quietly into a handkerchief
As he related how the Women’s Confederate
Had been repulsed by a revue of lockless men,
And frightened by a demonstration of removal technique,
They had paid to see with their own money.
He ranted at some length,
About the public being forced
To accept that male pattern baldness
Could be natural and determined at birth,
When wigs and toupees were readily available
At approved outlets
Or gotten from a priest
After much confession.
The Minister of Heritage sat down to raucous cheers,
From the Retentive Bloc attendees
Who surreptitiously adjusted their hairpieces,
And removed from their devices,
Certain photographs
Taken in moments of weakness,
At clandestine affairs
Many of them frequented,
But kept secret from their wives.
Then new laws were drawn up,
For wide requirement of hats, weaves, and rugs,
And in extreme cases,
Forced application of minoxidil
Or even implants.
Then the chamber was emptied,
And the press of course,
Was allowed no questions.
