SLAVA!!

SLAVA!!

Comfortable in my United States,

Discomfort I would narrate,

Far from war, (but not from hate),

Small matters I often debate.

But halfway ‘cross a wintered world,

Dark thought in Vlad’s head spun and swirled.

War’s banners he ordered unfurled,

At Kyiv was then his madness hurled.

Warm, unthreatened, I sat in shock.

At news that I could only gawk,

At the behest of the crazed war hawk:

Ukraine upon the chopping block.

Tanks with a spray-painted Z,

Entered Ukraine illegally.

To try to force Kyiv to its knee,

Unleashing Moscow’s bloody spree.

But Ukraine finds its courage fanned,

Together the whole nation band,

They stand! They stand! And man-to-man,

They never will give up their land!

The world discusses what to do:

Not too much, but not too few.

Now a bigger theme we view,

United ‘neath yellow and blue.

Lies and lies the Kremlin tells

Unheeding of the death knells.

Against aggression opinion swells,

Welcome Vlad to Ukraine hell.

Losses mount for Russian war,

Badly do their armies score.

To Ukraine much support does pour,

And when it’s gone the world sends more.

Some months are gone, and it is plain,

Russia’s resources quickly drain.

Putin, Putin! Hear my refrain:

Fist in the air: SLAVA UKRAINE!
