Savagery and Lament

Savagery and Lament

Where the demon walked, he was unknown,

Read by a disquiet felt in the soul.

In dark unfevered dream , disorder sown,

In the heart was made the crumbling hole.

Where the demon sang, law twisted there,

Holy writ now feeds malfeasance’ brood,

A rage long simmered with special care,

Seasoned, succored with truth misconstrued.

Where the demon laughed it fell apart,

It is torn with violence bonded.

It was not so long ago the heart,

By blooded ravings was absconded.

When the demon whispered to us lies

Some were prepared long to listen well.

We that such words do despise

Are now consigned to a living hell.

Where the demon dances blood follows soon,

Innocents caught up in ravening maw.

Their only crime is as bodies strewn,

Our anguish now is felt too raw.

Where the demon plays is in the mind,

Of those already bent away from care.

Where the demon lays he breeds unkind,

And humanity is his lair.
