One Day in 2022

One day in 2022, in the state of Tennessee,

They asked, “How do we turn everything to 1863?”

They put their heads together, and this thing came to be:

“Let’s start by taking women’s rights, so that everyone’s more free.”

But Louisiana said, “Hey hold on a minute, friends!”

“Women can still get abortions here, that practice we’ll suspend!”

So they put their heads together and this law they intend:

If a woman gets an abortion, that woman’s life will end.

And then Missouri said, “Hold on a second boys, we too can litigate.”

“We’ve got some stuff we came up with; things we can dictate.”

“Just like you guys, on the unborn we fixate;

We’ll even remove legality of abortion out-of-state!”

Now you women who live here in our crazy U.S.A.

You’re going to have to do what you can while you all still have your say.

And as a man, I can tell you, I’m with you all the way,

Because this will be the first stumble of a nation gone astray.

So listen guys, you men, this cannot happen here.

Too many freedoms at stake, things that we hold dear.

I know it’s been said so many times, but all of us must hear:

If true freedom we want to keep, we must all vote blue this year.
