Mother

Mother

(Sung arrogantly)

The heat keeps rising; it’s almost too late now.

It’s not surprising we ignore it anyhow

We can’t back off now; there’s money to be made.

We won’t take no bow; we’re going to get paid.

(Quiet; apologetic)

I have carved upon your face, Mother,

Winning this human race, Mother.

But I have to keep the pace, Mother,

I know it’s a disgrace, Mother…

Please forgive me…

The kid needs the new phone, car is a year old.

There’s still a green zone, I don’t need to be told,

That the polar bears are hungry and the whales are frightened too.

But I am only one man, what am I supposed to do?

I have carved upon your face, Mother,

Winning this human race, Mother.

But I have to keep the pace, Mother,

I know it’s a disgrace, Mother…

Please forgive me…

(Instruments jam a short one. High energy end into - )

(Angry, frustrated)

I have carved upon your face, Mother,

Winning this human race, Mother.

But I have to keep the pace, Mother,

I know it’s a disgrace, Mother…

Please forgive me…

(Quietly)

Please forgive me…

Mother?
