On May 24, 2022

With classes going and homework due,

Lunch wasn’t even quite through,

In a school in Texas where the bullets flew…

 

How many times will they have to run?

How many ways are the arguments spun?

How many times ‘til it doesn’t stun?

How many children will face the gun?

 

Only ten days since the grocery shop.

Only ten dead from the killer at Tops.

It’s not as if lives are any cash crop.

How many die before a full stop?

 

How many times will they have to run?

How many ways are the arguments spun?

How many times ‘til it doesn’t stun?

How many children will face the gun?

 

Over twenty dead in the month of May.

Almost as if it’s every day.

How do we hold the violence at bay?

How many more lives have to pay?

 

How many times will they have to run?

How many ways are the arguments spun?

How many children will face the gun?
