Apology

I just heard Australia say they are still open for business.

Pretty brave given all that they have witnessed.

I guess that is the normal reaction.

Get the money wagon back on its trackin’.

They said some of it is still okay.

Not all of it was burned away.

They say, “Come down and give us a try –

You can hardly hear the koalas cry.”

And I know all of it is our doing.

And I know all of it is our fault

And I’m just so fucking sorry.

I guess maybe I just don’t understand,

Why we treat our world with such a heavy hand.

None of the destruction is at all unplanned.

We won’t be done until it’s all sand.

But until then let’s make sure that we’re well tanned.

That Earth satisfies our each demand.

So we won’t feel so much as the earth dies

As we hardly hear the koala’s cries.

And I know all of it is our doing.

And I know all of it is our fault

And I’m just so fucking sorry.
